NEW pop'n music Welcome to Wonderland was an upcoming game in the pop'n music series. Its first location testing was held on February 7th and 8th at JAEPO 2020. Not much else is known about it. With the release of pop'n music 解明リドルズ it's currently unknown what the game's status is, though so far it seems to have been cancelled or possibly put on hold for a later spinoff.

New Features & Changes[edit | edit source]

All info below obtained from BEMANIWiki[1] and RemyWiki[2]

  • Light Pop-kun (ライトポップ君) and Flick Pop-kun (フリックポップ君) notes were added.
  • NAVI was still the system voice, though Mimi and Nyami could be heard at times as well.
  • Characters were chosen using a QR code reader located in the top-right of the control panel. QR codes are located on cards and acrylic stands that can be collected.
  • The art style remained similar to the style used in pop'n music peace, albeit with different shading.
  • Characters were now displayed as small 3D models rather than the usual 2D animated sprites.
  • Songs could be selected by using the blue buttons or with the touch panel.
  • A new rating system was introduced, with levels ranging from 1 through 10. Only Normal and Hyper charts were available.
  • The old songs available at the location test had neither their backgrounds or their rival characters.
  • The Groove Gauge and Music Timer were both made vertical and moved to the left and right sides of the screen, respectively.
    • Due to this change the playing lane was also extended, stretching from the top to the bottom of the screen.
  • The only option available was HI-SPEED. No OJAMAs were available either.
    • HI-SPEED went from x1.0 to x10 and could only be done in increments of 1.0, similar to pop'n music 14 FEVER! and games before it.

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

NEW pop'n music Welcome to Wonderland! added a touch panel below the standard nine buttons, which were also made significantly smaller to accommodate it. Basic Pop-kun notes remained unchanged, however two new notes types were added: Light Pop-kun and Flick Pop-kun.

  • Light Pop-kun notes could be hit with either the buttons or the by touching the touch panel in the same spot. These were similar to standard Pop-kun, except circular and without eyes.
  • Flick Pop-kun notes had to be hit with the touch panel by flicking left or right. These were triangular notes that were either blue (left) or pink (right).
